A scanner captures whatever passes through the feeder, without any sense of what belongs in the final document. Feed a stack in and it will happily record a handwritten cover note, a barcode separator sheet, the blank reverse of every duplex page, and any sheet that stuck to the one before it and went through twice. The result is a PDF that is longer than the original stack and full of pages nobody wants.
Removing them is straightforward because a scan is already a set of page images, which is how FixTools presents every PDF. You scroll the preview, see each captured page exactly as it looks, and pick out the ones to drop. There is no text layer to worry about and nothing special about scanned content that makes deletion harder here.
Importantly, the pages you keep are not re-scanned or re-compressed. They come through at the same resolution they were captured at, so a clean 300 DPI scan stays a clean 300 DPI scan, just with the unwanted pages gone.
Upload the scanned PDF and scroll the preview to see each captured page. Type the pages to remove, for example 1,5,12, click Delete Pages, and download the clean scan.
Step-by-step guide to delete pages from a scanned pdf:
Open Delete PDF Pages
Launch the FixTools tool in your browser. Nothing to install and no account to create.
Upload the scanned PDF
Drag the scan onto the upload area or click to browse to it on your device.
Review the scanned pages
Scroll the preview to see each page as it was captured and note the numbers of the ones to remove.
Type the pages to delete
Enter them separated by commas, for example 1,5,12. The tool checks them against the real page count.
Delete and download
Click Delete Pages. The chosen pages are removed over an encrypted connection and the clean scan downloads to your device.
Common situations where this approach makes a real difference:
Removing a separator sheet
An archivist deletes the barcode separator pages a batch scanner inserted between documents in a single long PDF.
Duplicate capture
A clerk removes a page that fed through the scanner twice, leaving one clean copy in the file.
Cover note cleanup
A paralegal drops the handwritten cover sheet that was scanned along with a signed agreement.
Duplex blanks
An accountant removes the empty reverse sides captured when single-sided receipts were scanned in two-sided mode.
Get better results with these expert suggestions:
Watch for double feeds
Duplicate pages often come in pairs from a double feed, so check the page before and after any repeat you spot.
Rotate crooked pages separately
If some scans came in sideways, fix them with the PDF Rotator before or after trimming rather than deleting them.
Keep resolution in mind
The tool does not re-compress kept pages, so your clean pages stay at their original scan quality.
Confirm against the paper stack
If you still have the originals, count them against the final page count to be sure nothing important was cut.
