Transparency is the main reason to choose PNG over JPG, and it is exactly what gets lost when you convert a PDF the wrong way.

JPG has no concept of transparency. Every JPG pixel is fully opaque, so when a tool exports a transparent design to JPG it has to pick a background color to fill the empty areas, almost always white. That is why a logo saved as JPG arrives with a solid rectangle behind it that you then have to mask out by hand.
PNG stores an alpha channel alongside the color data, which records how transparent each pixel is. FixTools renders each PDF page onto a canvas that supports transparency and exports it as PNG, so any area that had nothing drawn on it comes out see-through. Drop that image onto a dark banner or over a photo and the background shows through exactly where it should, with no manual cleanup.
Upload a PDF whose artwork has transparent areas, choose the page, and click Convert to PNG. The exported image keeps the alpha channel so transparent regions stay see-through.
Step-by-step guide to pdf to png with transparent background:
Open the tool
Launch FixTools PDF to PNG in your browser.
Upload the PDF
Select the PDF that contains the transparent artwork, such as a logo or icon sheet.
Choose the page
Keep All Pages, or enter the specific page that holds the graphic you want.
Convert to PNG
Click Convert to PNG. Each page renders with its alpha channel preserved rather than flattened.
Download the transparent PNG
Save the image. Transparent regions stay see-through so it overlays cleanly on any background.
Common situations where this approach makes a real difference:
Logo for a website
A designer exports a logo from a PDF brand sheet as a transparent PNG to place over a colored header.
Overlay watermark
A user pulls a transparent seal from a PDF to layer over photos without a white box.
Icon set
A developer converts a page of PDF icons to transparent PNGs for use in an app interface.
Badge on a dark theme
A marketer places a transparent PNG badge onto a dark slide where a JPG version would show an obvious block.
Get better results with these expert suggestions:
Confirm the source is transparent
If the PDF page has a solid white background drawn in, the PNG will show white too. Transparency is preserved only where the source has none.
Choose PNG, not JPG, for overlays
Any graphic meant to sit over other content needs PNG, since JPG cannot carry transparency at all.
Check on a colored background
View the exported PNG against a dark or colored backdrop to confirm the transparent areas came through.
Render at full scale for crisp edges
The 2x render keeps the edges of a transparent logo sharp so they do not look jagged when placed.
