Reverse the Page Order of a PDF

Sometimes a PDF comes out completely backwards. A scanner fed from the bottom of a stack captures the last page first, some fax and print-to-PDF workflows output pages in reverse, and the odd export lands with the whole document flipped end to end. When every page is in the wrong order, you need to reverse the sequence so the last page becomes the first and the first becomes the last. FixTools lets you do that page by page in the browser. Upload the PDF, and every page appears in a numbered list showing its current position. Use the Up and Down buttons to move pages until the order is fully reversed, then click reorder to build the corrected PDF and download it. The reordering runs locally, so the document is never uploaded, and the pages are copied without re-rendering, so nothing about their content or quality changes. Only the sequence is flipped into the order you actually need to read it in.

When a PDF ends up in reverse, and how to flip it

A reversed PDF usually comes from the input side. Feeding a paper stack face-down or from the bottom makes the scanner capture the final page first. Some older fax-to-PDF and print-to-PDF paths output the last sheet first because that is the order the pages leave the tray. In each case the content is complete and correct, but the whole document reads back to front.

Reversing it is just reordering taken to its natural conclusion: every page moves to the opposite end. In FixTools you bring the bottom page to the top and work through until the list is flipped. Because the pages are copied into a new document rather than re-rendered, the reversal is lossless. The corrected file is identical to the original in every way except that it now reads in the correct direction.

How to use this tool

💡

Upload the PDF and use the Up and Down buttons to move pages until the order is reversed, so the last page becomes the first. Click Reorder and Download to save the corrected file.

How It Works

Use the Up and Down buttons to bring the last page to the top and push the first page to the bottom.

Real-world examples

Common situations where this approach makes a real difference:

Bottom-fed scan

A stack scanned from the bottom of the pile comes out with the last page first, and the whole order is reversed.

Reverse print-to-PDF

A document printed to PDF outputs pages in reverse, so the file needs flipping to read correctly.

Fax archive

An old fax saved as a PDF arrived last page first and needs reversing before filing.

Collated backwards

A merged set of pages ended up in the opposite order and has to be flipped end to end.

Pro tips

Get better results with these expert suggestions:

1

Start from the ends

Bring the last page to the top first, then the second-to-last, working inward, so the reversal stays easy to track.

2

Watch for a cover page

If a title or cover page should stay first, place it after reversing the rest of the document.

3

Check page numbers

If the pages carry printed numbers, use them to confirm the reversed order reads one, two, three from the top.

4

Fix the scanner next time

Loading the stack face-up and top-first usually prevents a reverse scan on the following document.
